Okay, so I installed Freedom. What's next?
Did you know it’s not simply enough to install Freedom on your devices and be 100% safe or free?
You’re making a lifestyle change. And, it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to take some hard work.
And, I believe you’re up for the challenge. You can do hard things.
Here are some practical steps to help you fight the temptation of porn
Pray for strength and guidance
James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Prayer is a powerful tool that can help you stay focused on your goal and provide you with the strength to resist temptation.
Get an accountability partner
Proverbs 27:17 reminds us that “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
Seek out an accountability partner, of the same gender, who can support you in your journey to maintain a pure heart and mind. This could be a trusted friend, mentor, or a Christian counselor.
Pick someone you can trust to open up and bring things into the light, and someone who will point you in the right direction when times get tough.
This step is important because the devil will want nothing more than for you to feel trapped, alone, and helpless. You are not alone.
Replace bad habits with good ones
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Identify healthy habits that can replace the time and energy spent on viewing pornography. This could include reading the Bible, praying, exercising, or spending time with positive friends.
Identify one thing you could do instead of looking at porn.
Foster a healthy spiritual life
1 Peter 2:2 says, “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.”
Stay connected to your local church, read the Bible regularly, and engage in regular prayer. These practices will help you grow spiritually and develop a deeper relationship with God.
Seek professional help if needed
It’s okay to admit you need help. I needed help. If you’re struggling to overcome the temptation to view pornography, consider seeking the help of a Christian counselor or therapist who can provide guidance and support.
Remember, growth is a process, and you’re most likely going to make mistakes along the way. With prayer, accountability, and a commitment to spiritual growth, you can overcome temptation and replace bad habits with good ones.
