Freedom Beta

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ll admit that these are questions I imagine people would ask. If you have further questions, please contact me and I am happy to help.

Q: How does Freedom work?

Freedom works by blocking network access to pornographic websites when using the browser or apps.

For example, if you type in a porn website on your browser, it will not open the website and show you a page that says it’s not loaded.

Q: Is this tool meant to bring shame?

Not at all. In fact, it’s meant to do the opposite. Jesus met me, the creator of Freedom, with grace when I was deeply stuck in porn and feeling hopeless and alone. He showed me that I was loved and that I was seeking after an artificial love.

”No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” — 1 Corinthians 10:13

Jesus will provide a way out of the temptation of giving into an artificial love.

Let Freedom be your way out.

Q: Are there any better, more advanced blocking tools?

Yes.

The ones I recommend are Canopy, Ever Accountable, or Covenant Eyes (in that order).

Canopy can be used to block porn images all throughout the device, no matter where they come in. I think it has AI to scan and determine if an image could be porn and doesn’t load the image at all.

Q: Why does Snapchat, Tumblr, Tinder (and other dating apps) not work?

Those apps can make it easy to have a door open to seeing porn or being tempted. So, Freedom just blocks them. If you need fine-tuning access, please consider other tools like Covenant Eyes, Ever Accountable, and Canopy.

Q: Does Freedom do accountability email reports?

Nope. Freedom works by blocking network access to pornographic websites when using the browser or apps.

If you want accountability features, consider tools like Covenant Eyes, Ever Accountable, and Canopy. I recommend every single one of those.

Q: Does Freedom scan and block every image that could appear on my phone?

Also, no. While this does work at a network level, that sort of approach would need advanced tooling like AI to scan every image before it loads.

Consider using Canopy. It’ll do that and more!

Q: How do I disable Freedom?

If you don’t want to use Freedom Porn Blocker anymore, you can disable it by following the exact opposite of instructions you used to install it.

👋 Now, if you want to disable Freedom because you’re tempted to look at porn, then I recommend more advanced tools like Covenant Eyes, Ever Accountable, or Canopy (this is the most advanced and best, in my opinion). I kindly warn you to not go without protection. Remember the reason why you want to find freedom from porn.
