How to disable the internet browser Safari on my iPhone
Why would someone want to disable the internet browser on their phone?
Some people might choose to disable their internet browser on their phone to minimize distractions, protect their eyes from sexual temptation, enhance focus on their spiritual life, and intentionally set aside time for prayer, Bible study, and other offline activities.
This decision aligns with the Bible verse:
Be still, and know that I am God. — Psalm 46:10
To disable Safari on your iPhone, you can use the Screen Time feature
Here’s how:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap on Screen Time. If you haven’t already set up Screen Time, you’ll need to follow the prompts to enable it.
- Choose Content & Privacy Restrictions. You may need to enter your Screen Time passcode if you’ve set one up. (If you are setting up for the very first time, I recommend getting a trusted friend or family member to set the password.)
- Tap on Allowed Apps.
- Toggle Safari to the off position.
Done! By following these steps, Safari will be disabled, and its icon will disappear from the home screen, effectively preventing web browsing through Safari on your iPhone.
Note: Remember, this method doesn’t delete Safari or its data from your device; it merely disables the app.
